A quilt inspired by ultra-light hiking
Made for ultra-light backpacking, the UDD Quilt from NANGA is made for those who appreciate less storage space. Weighing only 550 grams, the sleeping bag is stuffed with Spanish duck down and features a water-repellent finish. The hood is eliminated to reduce weight. A large portion of the underside, where the down tends to flatten due to body weight, has been completely omitted to achieve a more lightweight and packable design perfect for ultra-light hiking excursions. The unique structure allows the quilt to fit comfortably around the body.
Our company was established in 1941 and founded by Akira Yokota. The company name, "NANGA", originated from the Himalayan mountain "NANGA PARBAT". The mountain stands at 8,126 meters and is the ninth highest mountain in the world. What separates this mountain from others is that it is notoriously difficult to climb, contributed to numerous deaths, and has the nickname of "Killer Mountain". Our philosophy behind "NANGA" is to produce a create a product that can overcome challenges under the most drastic conditions. Throughout our history of over 74 years, we have demonstrated extra care and attention to details to produce quality clothing, sleeping bags, and down jackets.
Made in Japan Quality
We take exceptional pride towards quality control and safety features of our products. Each NANGA product is made by skilled experts with precision and care. We use only the best materials and down feathers. Quality control and customer satisfaction has and will continue to be our foremost mission.
Box baffle construction
This is the most efficient method for optimizing the insulating quality of down. A breathable mesh is layered between the inside and outside layers, and is equipped with crosswise boxes to prevent clumping to one side.
YKK x NANGA
NANGA x YKK parts which reduce snagging and catching
When handling a sleeping bag made with the thinnest of fabrics, there is the fear that the fasteners might catch or snag, preventing the bag from opening or closing, or if deeply snagged, may even cause damage to the fabric. To reduce such problems, we installed specialized YKK parts as fasteners, which diminished the gaps which can cause snagging, and have led to the achievement of a reduction in fabric snagging and damage due to snagging of the fasteners. Furthermore, we utilized resin in our materials to make our parts more lightweight (1.6g) and added phosphorescent capabilities to make it easier to open and close in the dark.
Due to the concave shape in the upper portion of these specialized parts, the fasteners can guide the fabric to the center, reducing the probability of snagging.
With phosphorescent capabilities, these parts will glow in the dark, and help make fastening and opening much easier.
