WHY Ø100

A wider pipe, a shorter chimney.

Three nesting pipes, three metres, one tube to carry.

Draft comes from the column of hot gas inside the pipe, and a wider pipe moves more of it. Wood & Burn's guidance for pellet burners is 3 m (9.8 ft) of Ø100 vertical pipe, which they found draws harder than a 7 m run of Ø80.

The pipes step up in size, Ø100 to Ø115 to Ø125, so each one slides inside the next. Packed, the set is a single 1 m (3.3 ft) stainless tube. Set up, it is one stacked chimney, steadied by four lines from the Ø115 string holder.

IN THE FIELD

Packed small, standing tall.

What three metres of Ø100 looks like at camp.

Three-metre Ø100 stacking chimney beside a tent, steadied by four guy lines

Three metres, four lines

Ø100 at the base, Ø125 at the top. Two lines run to the tent and two to the ground from the Ø115 string holder.

Ø125 pipe with the Ø115 and Ø100 pipes nested inside, beside the joined reducers

One tube to carry

Ø100 slides into Ø115, Ø115 into Ø125. The whole stack travels as a single 1 m (3.3 ft) stainless tube.

Ø80 elbow turning up into the 80–100 reducer at the base of the chimney

The corner stays Ø80

The 80 MF elbow turns the stove's Ø80 run upward, and the reducer steps it up to Ø100 above the bend.

Ø100, Ø115 and Ø125 pipes laid out on gravel with two reducers

Stepped sizes, 8 cm joints

Each 1 m pipe joins with an 8 cm (3.1 in) insert. The notched male end goes down.

HOW IT GOES TOGETHER

From the stove up.

Elbow, reducer, three pipes, one string holder.

Ø80 male–female (80 MF) stainless elbow pipe

STEP 1

Turn the corner in Ø80

Run Ø80 pipe from the stove's rear exhaust, 1 m (3.3 ft) or less, and fit the 80 MF elbow to point it up. Only the MF elbow mates with the reducer.

Stainless reducer Ø80(F)–Ø100(F)

STEP 2

Step up to Ø100

The Ø80(F)–Ø100(F) reducer sits on the elbow. Keep it in the vertical run: the joint is not built to carry a sideways load.

Ø100, Ø115 and Ø125 one-metre pipes laid out with the 100–115 and 115–125 reducers

STEP 3

Stack three pipes

Ø100, the 100–115 reducer, Ø115, the 115–125 reducer, Ø125. Male end down, 8 cm (3.1 in) into the piece below. Leave the top open.

Ø115 four-point string holder ring

STEP 4

Tie it down

Bolt the two halves of the Ø115 string holder into the groove on the Ø115 pipe. Clip carabiners to its holes and run two lines to the tent, two to the ground.

Compatibility

  • Wood & Burn Pro PS Rear Ø80 exhaust: Ø80 run, then this set
  • Field Stove, rear exhaust (3-sided glass + pellet kit) Builds the same way as the Pro PS
  • Field Stove, top exhaust (4-sided glass) Takes a rigid 80–100 reducer on the top exhaust instead, not in this set
  • 7M Chimney Set elbow (80 FF) Will not take the reducer. Use the included 80 MF elbow

Built for Ø80 rear exhausts. Keep the horizontal run to 1 m (3.3 ft) or less.

Before you order

The honest fine print.

A 3 m vertical chimney

Three nesting 1 m pipes, three reducers, the Ø115 string holder and the 80 MF elbow: everything from the stove's Ø80 run upward.

Not the whole chimney route

The horizontal Ø80 pipe, elbow support, extension leg, skin saver, guy lines, carabiners and a carry bag are not in the set.

Four rules for the build

The 80–100 reducer goes in the vertical run only. Horizontal run 1 m (3.3 ft) or less. 80 MF elbow, not FF. Top left open. On the first burn, preheat the chimney base with a torch.

Made for Ø80 rear exhausts

Pro PS and Field Stove in rear-exhaust mode. The Field Stove's top exhaust takes a rigid reducer instead, which is not in this set.

IN THE SET

Everything above the stove's Ø80 run.

FAQ

Quick answers.

Draft, fit, the four rules and packing.

Is 3 m of pipe enough for a pellet stove?

Wood & Burn's guidance for pellet burners is 3 m (9.8 ft) of Ø100 vertical pipe: the wider pipe draws at a shorter height than Ø80. Keep the run vertical and the top open.

Why is an elbow in the set?

The Ø80(F)–Ø100(F) reducer is female at both ends, so the elbow below it has to end in a male. Only the 80 MF elbow fits. 75 MF, 75 FF and 80 FF elbows do not.

Can I use the elbow from my 7M Chimney Set?

No. That set's elbow is 80 FF and will not take the reducer. Its Ø80 pipes work for the horizontal run out of the stove.

Can the 80–100 reducer go in a horizontal section?

No. The joint between the Ø80 and Ø100 ends is not built for a sideways load. Turn the corner in Ø80 with the elbow first, then step up to Ø100.

How long can the horizontal run be?

1 m (3.3 ft) or less, from the stove's exhaust to the elbow. Where the run crosses tent fabric, use Ø80 double wall pipe with a skin saver.

How do I secure the chimney?

The Ø115 string holder bolts into the groove on the Ø115 pipe. Clip carabiners to its holes so the lines don't touch hot metal, then run two lines to the tent and two to the ground. Lines and carabiners are not included.

Should I put a cap on top?

No. Wood & Burn recommends leaving the top open. Soot collects on a cap and can drop onto the tent.

How does it pack?

Ø100 slides inside Ø115 and Ø115 inside Ø125, so the three pipes travel as one 1 m (3.3 ft) tube. The reducers, elbow and string holder pack alongside.

Air shipping available?

Yes. Weight-based air surcharge shows at checkout — duties and customs covered, no surprise bills later. Five days versus the standard six-week ocean lead time.

FROM THE CURATOR

Why we put this set together.

BIGTENT ·Coquitlam, BC

Seven metres of Ø80 chimney is a lot of sections to stack, tie off and pack. Wood & Burn's Ø100 stacking pipes change the arithmetic: three pipes, three metres, one tube in the bag.

We added the two pieces that make it fit a Ø80 rear exhaust, the 80–100 reducer and the 80 MF elbow, plus the Ø115 string holder that steadies the stack. Add the Ø80 run and the support your tent calls for, and the chimney is complete.
